Sacrament Preparation

First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation are Sacraments that are prepared for within the context of Religious Education for children of registered parishioners who are enrolled in our Religious Education program. Are you new to our parish and would like to become a member?  Click here for the Parish Registration Form.pdf In addition to religous education, a retreat is required for children preparing for each of these sacraments.

Children should have completed 2 years of religious education before making their first Holy Communion.  Depending on when your child begins his or her religious education, they may receive their First Eucharist in either the 2nd Grade or 3rd Grade (or a higher grade.  It is never too late!)

Most students receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the fall of Tenth Grade, after having completed two years of Confirmation preparation (Grades 8 and 9), a final fall class, retreat, and interview with the pastor (Father Michael Ruminski) to ascertain whether they are ready to be Confirmed. A new era of Confirmation ceremonies has begun as of the fall of 2021: from now on, the sacrament of Confirmation is conferred by Archbishop Leonard P. Blair in a ceremony at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford, regardless of which parish you are a member. This is a beautiful opportunity to have candidates from various parishes  come together in faith and to "awaken in them a sense of belonging to the universal Church" (as stated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church).
