The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary

My Dear Friends,

It is so hard to believe that we are at the midpoint of October. The days and weeks are flying by. October, as you may know or may remember from last year is the month devoted to the Holy Rosary. You may also have heard at least one Marian hymn during Mass for the Sundays of October. To honor our Blessed Mother is so important as Catholics, and every parish I have been assigned to I have made sure that we honor her in May and October with at least one hymn to her glory.

The fact that our two church buildings and our new parish name are devoted to Our Lady makes it even more special to call upon her help. With the violence in the Middle East, as well as the continuing violence in the Ukraine and other areas in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and Central America, we need to call upon Our Lady, Queen of Peace and Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary daily with the daily rosary. Besides the prayers of the rosary, other prayers directed to Our Lady are also important, e.g. the sub tuum and the Memorare and the Litany of Loreto. Besides in time of wars, we also call upon the help and the prayers of our Blessed Mother as we continue to defend the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. The 40 Days for Life campaign is all about a prayerful witness to the sanctity of life.
