The Sacredness of the Blessed Sacrament: A Call to Reverence and Vigilance

My Dear Friends,

Last week there was a disturbing video in front of the Kansas Statehouse. There was an attempt to desecrate our Blessed Sacrament by a group of Satanists. Their attempt to celebrate a “Black Mass” turned violent as Catholics were present to pray and stop the desecration from happening. Black Masses make a mockery of our Lord’s sacrifice and open a doorway to evil in our midst.

For a Black Mass to occur, the satanic priest needs a consecrated wafer from the Catholic Church. In a world where so many Catholics do not believe in the Real Presence, even Satanists recognize the Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament, which is why they go to great lengths to steal one. At this particular event, the satanic priest held up the Precious Host and threw our Lord down on the ground. A faithful Catholic man immediately jumped on it and consumed the host, risking bodily injury as he was attacked by the evil men who were desecrating our Lord.

It used to be much more difficult for a satanic priest to be in possession of a consecrated host, but sadly, since the early 1970’s, it has become very easy for the Blessed Sacrament to be stolen. This is why many Catholics, both clergy and laity, try to encourage people to receive in the traditional manner rather than receiving our Lord in your hand. Receiving in the hand is an option, albeit an option that came out of disobedience (Pope St. Paul VI repeatedly denied Communion in the hand, but many bishops disregarded him and eventually Pope Paul VI relented but only in those four European countries. Within a few years, it became the norm for a majority of Catholic countries). Many churches have ushers standing next to the priest or deacon (or Eucharistic ministers) so they can watch the person who receives in the hand consume the host before he or she walks away.

We must turn to the Sacred Heart of Jesus to make reparation for sacrilegious communions and other times when the Blessed Sacrament is desecrated. Evil is real and many people have given themselves over to the Evil One. But Jesus has conquered the Evil One once and for all. He knows he has been defeated, which is why he continues to try and get his followers to attack and destroy the Catholic Church and mock our Lord Jesus Christ.

The best thing we can do is to make sure that every time we receive Holy Communion, we do so with true reverence, piety, and love for our Triune God. God bless.
